The Bee Balm next to the pond is a favorite with hummingbirds and other pollinators. This particular plant is Jacob Cline Scarlet Bee Balm (Monarda didyma ‘Jacob Cline’). The bird is a Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). Females of this species have a white throat, as seen here. The males have a ruby red throat that can appear black from some angles.
