Green Frogs

I call the frog below Roman because of his gorgeous bronzy appearance. For a few days, Roman visited the basin right next to the house, so I got to admire his colors up close.

Green Frogs have ridges that run from their eyes down their backs.

American Bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus)

Bullfrogs have ridges that run from their eyes around their “ears” and down, like the earpieces for spectacles.

Fowler’s Toad (Anaxyrus fowleri)

I identify a lot of Fowler’s Toads for others on iNaturalist. The creamy white stripe down their backs makes it easy. But this is the first one I’ve seen in person. They hopped into the screened porch and hid behind a plant shelf. Bruce and I gently herded them back outside. This one is smaller than a pine cone.
